Clevedon Community is a small local board for posts, events, news, and businesses. This page explains what we collect and why, in plain English. It is a summary for the app, not formal legal advice.
What we collect
- Your account email address, and a password held by our sign-in service.
- An optional display name, if you choose one. Until you do, posts and comments say Resident.
- Whether you asked for the local newsletter. That choice is off unless you tick it.
- Posts, comments, event details, and RSVPs you add.
- Photos you upload with a post.
- Business listings you create, including the contact details, opening note, booking link, or payment link you choose to publish.
- Quote requests sent to a business: the name, message, and any phone or email you include.
- Reviews you leave on a Premium listing.
- A record of Premium membership for a listing. Card payments are taken by Stripe. We do not store your card number.
Why we use it
We use this information to run the app: to sign you in, show the town board, send an event reminder you asked for, send the local newsletter if you asked for it, pass a quote request to the business, and keep the board safe. Posts, comments, listings, and reviews are there so other people in the town can read them.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use it for advertising.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and the things you publish while your account is open and the content is still on the board. You can delete your own posts. A town moderator can also remove a post or comment that breaks the rules. If you ask us to close your account, we will delete or detach your personal details. We may keep a short record where the law asks us to.
Who helps us run the app
- Supabase stores accounts, the board, and uploaded photos.
- Vercel hosts the website.
- Resend sends reminder emails when you have asked for one.
- Beehiiv sends the local newsletter when you have asked for it.
- Stripe takes Premium payments.
These services process data so the app can work. They are not allowed to use it for their own marketing to you.
Your choices
You can update your display name, turn the newsletter on or off from your Profile, delete your own posts, and ask us for a copy of your information or for it to be corrected or deleted. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office if you think we have handled your information badly.
